COVID-19 CLEANING &
DIFFERENCES BETWEEN CLEANING AND DISINFECTING FOR COVID-19 CORONAVIRUS
In a few words – cleaning removes germs, disinfecting kills germs
Cleaning works by using a detergent and water to physically remove germs from surfaces. This process does not necessarily kill germs, but by removing them it lowers their numbers and the risk of spreading infection.
Disinfecting works by using chemicals to kill germs on surfaces or objects. This process does not necessarily clean dirty surfaces or remove germs, but by killing germs on a surface after cleaning, disinfection can further lower the risk of spreading infection.
Blue Sky maintains the ability to do both, cleaning and disinfecting.
For exterior surfaces, Blue Sky can transport over 1,000 gallons of sodium hypochlorite and over 1,000 gallons of our own water to aid in cleaning and sanitizing of outdoor locations which may not have a readily available water source-all in accordance with CDC Cleaning and Disinfection .
For interior surfaces, we have state of the art wet fogging equipment for interior Covid-19 disinfection and utilize NOROxyCdiff and BAC to ensure all interior surfaces are cleaned and or sanitized in line with CDC Covid-19 guidelines.
WHAT IS DWELL TIME AND WHY DOES IT MATTER FOR COVID-19 CORONAVIRUS?
In a few words – Dwell time is the amount of time a disinfectant must remain wet on a surface to effectively kill germs
For a disinfectant to be effective, it must remain wet on a surface for the recommended dwell time as determined by the chemical manufacturer. The average dwell time for a disinfectant will vary by the disinfectant type and by the germs you are trying to kill.
VERY IMPORTANT – Disinfectants which do not remain wet for the recommended dwell time do not kill as many germs and are considered ineffective. Blue Sky exterior services are currently being performed with a hypochlorite solution which disinfects the Covid-19 virus in accordance with CDC Covid-19 Disinfection Guidelines. Covid-19 sanitization and disinfection requires a dwell time of 10 minutes in order to remain effective against the widest variety of bacteria and viruses.

What should you do if someone in your building is diagnosed with Covid-19 Coronavirus?
- Fill out our form immediately and alert us that an employee or other on-site provider has tested positive for Coronavirus COVID-19. To protect the privacy of employees, contractors, and other on-site consultants, please DO NOT disclose the identity(s) of individuals that have received positive test results. We will personally work with you to develop a site-specific plan, including an extensive overall cleaning and disinfection of your entire building.
- Transparency is incredibly important to employees, especially when addressing workplace health and safety matters that affect the collective wellbeing. Some of your employees may be wondering how your organization is addressing Coronavirus COVID-19. Utilizing standard communication channels for companywide communication, we recommend that you inform your employees and other on-site personnel that you are utilizing a proactive approach by taking important steps that include cleaning and disinfecting common ‘touchpoints’ and other areas more stringently. Conveying a calm and clear message will minimize any sense of panic, provide reassurance, and hopefully, result in minimal disruption to company operations.
Blue Sky is committed to providing a clean and sanitary workplace for your employees, as well as additional services in the unfortunate event of employee Coronavirus Covid-19 infection. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions and, rest assured, Blue Sky will be staying on top of any updates that the CDC provides as they become available.
